Adding a forward (redirect) to your webhosting service

  knowledgebase  :: network status

This procedure specifies how to create a new forward (redirect) for use with your domainname, hosted on our server. Once done, all mail sent to the address you forward will be redirected to the address you specify.

  1. login to the website control panel
  2. create the forward (redirect):

    • regular hosting accounts:

      1. click the 'Email Control' tab
      2. next to your domainname, click the 'Redirects' link
      3. click 'Add Redirect'
      4. enter the left-most portion of the email address (eg. info)
      5. in the "Redirect address:" box, enter the full email address to forward to
      6. click 'Next Step'

      Notes:

      • If you receive a message "mailbox already exists" when you try and create a redirect, but you cannot see it listed in the list of redirects, check the Mailboxes screen. It's not possible to create a mailbox with the same name as a redirect.

    • Pro hosting accounts:

      1. under Mail, click Forwarders
      2. click the Add Forwarder button
      3. enter the left-most portion of the email address (eg. info)
      4. if on a multisite account, select the correct domainname from the dropdown
      5. in the "Forward to email address:" box, enter the full email address to forward to
      6. click the Add Forwarder button

      Notes:

      • Note: the mail will be COPIED to the destination address, it will still be routed to the original recipient. However, if the original recipient's address does not exist, the mail will be forwarded to the destination address, but not routed to the original recipient.

  3. send test email
  4. check mailbox for test email
